I need an empty space where I can write as much as I want without worrying about someone seeing or judging what I’m thinking about. I don’t really need my journaling app to tell me to go for a walk or meditate, especially if I’m meant to write in it when I’m not feeling present. I notice that after I journal and work through whatever is happening, I can meditate much more effectively. I like to do both, especially if I’m struggling with a strong feeling. A lot of people who struggle with meditation will journal instead because it gives them the benefit of processing their emotions as opposed to just observing and letting them go. I think it’s great that you can even make an app and I think the intention is positive but I personally wouldn’t use it. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are angry, you are living in the past. From those emotions, my app will detect which time frame (past, future or present) you are living in. How I do it is, have the user input their life as they live including emotions. The reason I'm asking is because I'm actually creating an app that combines journaling and mindfulness. Other than making coffee, how do you feel about setting an alarm to journal? Thank you so much the reply! I really think your comment on trigger is very important. Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to reply with so much detail! I would seriously love to hear your honest opinions on my project! Any negative or positive comments are greatly appreciated! The app is called IMA which means Now in Japanese. When the app detects you are not living in the present moment, it suggests and guides you mindful actions such as meditation or walking and so on.

From those emotions, my app can detect which time frame (past, future or present) you are living in. The goal for this app is "to create people who live in the present moment". Wow thank you so much for giving me so much information! While I'm new to Dayone, I'm actually creating my own journaling app which is a combination of journaling and mindfulness. I hope you're able to find something that works for you! Let me know if you have any questions! :) In sum, I use it quite a bit throughout the day/week, but probably only for a total of 30 minutes each weekday. It's my goal to do this more consistently.

I make sure to allow Day One to use the picture's metadata for date, time, location, etc. This is usually a picture with a short caption. I sometimes upload pictures from my day into my "Photos" journal. If something particularly eventful happens during my day, I might write a separate entry.Throughout the day, I'll check off my morning routine and goals as they're completed. Then in a separate entry, I spend a minute or two responding to Day One's daily prompt.Shortly after I wake up, I do my 5-minute AM journaling, which consists primarily of gratitude, affirmations, morning routine checklist, and goals for the day.My weekday routine is something like this: Most weekdays, I use it a few times each day.
